107 is an Independent Power Producer focused on the rapid design and construction of 30 – 100MW of solar photovoltaic electricity generation in Kwale, Makueni and Turkana County.  107 is managed by a group of Kenyan and Russian power development professionals with expertise in engineering, finance and construction and a track record of designing several projects and developing power generation projects in India, Russia and Serbia.

The 107 Kwale One PV project was developed by 107 holdings and its partners aims to build a solar power station with a capacity of between 20MWp and 60MWp of electricity to produce between 80GWh and 150GWh of energy per year.  The power produced by the plant will be enough to provide basic electricity needs including lighting, refrigeration and television for up to 300,000 Kenyan households. Throughout the lifetime of the project there will be opportunities for local suppliers and business people to secure contracts for the supply of goods and services to the plant.

Kwale one Solar PV plant has been using proven solar technology from TaTa power with high efficiency panels mounted on single-axis trackers. Tata power platinum solar modules have some of the highest efficiencies, lowest annual degradation rates and longest guaranteed lifetimes of any solar panels available.

Kwale One Solar PV project is evidently a milestone high-technology development for the Kwale community and has been providing significant direct and knock-on benefits for the local community. The solar plant is expected to operate continuously for at least 20 years.
